- Double illumination, dual view detection: The LS2 Live is equipped with two illumination objectives located below the sample holder that generate the light sheets from two sides to homogenously illuminate the sample and reduce stripes artifacts. The fluorescent emitted light is collected by two opposing high NA (up to 1.1) detection objectives. The dual view detection effectively doubles the achievable imaging depth inside the sample compared to single detection system (e.g. spinning disk, confocal or single objective light sheet). One of the detection arms can also be used for photo-manipulation experiment like photoactivation and/or photoablation. The LS2 Live is the only commercial light sheet system to date that combines open top multi-well sample holder, double illumination and dual view detection. For our research projects at reNEW it is extremely important that we can take advantage of the custom made sample holder and the open top. We have many different research projects that require different sample holders, with different sizes, different amounts and shapes of wells. In addition to that, we will also take advantage of the open top to add and remove drugs and visualize the effect those drugs induced in a time lapse experiment.
