### Award Criterion Descriptions

- The DriveAFM is the only commercially available Atomic Force Microscope (AFM) that combines a tip scanner with photothermal cantilever excitation using a patented fully motorized scan head architecture (US patent 10,564,181), which would allow us to do combined transmission optical imaging with photothermally excited cantilever AFM modes simultaneously. It is the only commercially available AFM that can operate in photothermal off-resonance tapping mode (WaveMode) for gentle imaging and fast nanomechanics, which is required for my biomaterial imaging. In addition, it is also the only AFM that allows for correlative inverted optical imaging (brightfield and fluorescence) and AFM via compact digital inverted optical microscope that fits inside an active vibration isolation table, thus allowing for a compact setup and small benchtop acoustic hood, whilst maintaining optical video feeds from both the top and bottom of the sample.
