### Award Criterion Descriptions

- Hamilton is the only supplier that can provide an instrument that offer the needed flexibility and size in the provided area. Due to limitation or ceiling height/ structure other instruments in the market doesn’t fit. Cecula scheduling software – Enables automation of several cell culturing protocols for up to several weeks without human interventions in parallel. This mean of multi-tasking is critical for using automation in a multi-user environment where many projects run at the same time. Additionally, the software maximizes the usage of all integrated equipment by using advanced scheduling while minimizing Usertraining. Cecula is the only dedicated cell culture software for liquid-handling instruments in the market and the software only works with the Hamilton instrument. Possibility to include nL pipetting with the MagPip pipette. This pipetting technology for nL-range pipetting is key for efficient and accurate pipetting of extremely small volumes into 384 well plates. This technology is therefore important for reducing the costs associated with expensive materials like Matrigel or compound libraries as it minimizes “dead volumes” and hence the material costs for running a screen. This hardware is patented by Hamilton and is a unique feature not available from competing companies. As the only instrument on the market, the Hamilton StarV also offers the pipetting up to 5 mL with airdisplacement technology. Having these pipetting range possibilities available (from 350 nL to 5 mL) is likely to become important in the future for implementation of new applications in the facility.
