## Description

DTU intends to purchase a system for automated long-term observation of greenhouse gases, a Soil Gas Flux System from LI-COR Biosciences GmbH. The highly accurate sensors measure dry mole fractions of CO2 and CH4 with stable sensitivity and negligible noise and consider thus the effect of water vapor dilution from soil evaporation on the measurement. The limited size of the chambers and the multi-gas analytics allow us to employ apparatus over a range of applications above porous GHG emitting media, such es natural soils agricultural soils, landfills and novel biofilters. The system includes eight automated chambers that only close during measurement, keeping chamber effects on the soil minimal. According to the ICOS protocol, we need 16 chamber bases for alternating measurement. 16 Soil sensors will continuously monitor volumetric soil water content and soil temperature. The system follows the requirements of the protocol for such measurements defined by the ecosystem thematic center of the Integrated Carbon Observation System and keeps dimensions comparable to an earlier system used at DTU, while it exceeds the analytical specifications. This is necessary for the continuity of the standards and for comparability with earlier measurements with the predecessor of that system (only for CO2).
