## Description

The Contracting Authority puts out to Tender the purchase of a Unitree G1 (U6) humanoid robot. The purpose of this procurement is to acquire an advanced humanoid robotic platform suitable for research, development, and educational use. The robot will support activities in motion control, artificial intelligence, human-robot interaction, and autonomous behaviour testing. The acquisition includes the robot unit in the specified configuration, required batteries, lifting and handling equipment, software tools, and associated technical documentation. The supplier shall provide delivery, installation guidance, warranty services, and technical support to ensure the system can be safely and effectively operated by the Contracting Authority. Suppliers are invited to submit offers that meet or exceed the specified General, Technical, and Service & Support requirements outlined in this Tender.
We require a robot capable of operating a human-centred environment, such a laboratory or a house-hold, autonomously. For that, a humanoid robot has an advantage with respect to other robotic platforms as they are, by default, human-like . Our interest on the Unitree G1 (EDU-U6 configuration) in particular, is because it allows us to run our AI and Reinforcement learning algorithms off-the-shelf at a competitive price. Recently, the Unitree G1 has gained substantial popularity, resulting in a growing contributor community and more accessible resources. Moreover, its software stack and API support rapid development and deployment of our autonomous policies.

In addition, much of the work that we will be carrying out is related to perception and manipulation of complex objects, for which dexterity and sensing are of extreme importance. The interest in the U6 configuration is because it comes with a pair of 5-finger, dexterous, Inspire Robot hands with tactile sensing. This combination of humanoid and hands makes it an ideal base for our use-case, as well as for training and testing our algorithms.
