Ballistic Eyewear

Danish Ministry of Defence Acquisition and Logistics Organisation (DALO) is seeking information on a future tender regarding Ballistic Eyewear, including spare parts. The project is expected to deliver a framework agreement that can meet the needs for ballistic eyewear to the armed forces, the Home Guard and the National Emergency Management Agency, including any the municipal preparedness. The ballistic eyewear should meet current regulations and requirements for quality (cf. NATO standard, STANAG 4495/ MIL-PRF 2342) or equivalent. The ballistic eyewear will be used by all genders for military training and operations nationally and internationally, and shall protect the users eyes from fragments, different environment and weather conditions, dust and similar foreign objects as well as lasers. The need for ballistic eyewear covers several types and models, consisting of one model of shield type (one lens covers both eyes) spectacles, spare lenses (with nosepieces, if applicable) compatible carrying case or bag, cleaning cloth, anti-fog reapplication (if applicable) and a retaining strap. Lenses shall be capable of being easily removed from the primary frame and replaced with another lens. For the ballistic eyewear designed without a frame around the lens, the lens shall be easily removed from the supporting structure (i.e., temple arms and/or retention strap) and replaced with another lens. Likewise, it is expected that the supplier can supply ballistic eyewear to a 95-100% (minimum 95%) of the users (4-8 number of glasses in selection). The products must be compatible with the current helmet system and hearing protectors, and the guiding device should also be compatible with the molle system. The quality of the products are largely assessed by user satisfaction. Therefore, there will be requirements for future suppliers in relation to quality, functionality and comfort. As part of the project, it is expected to carry out user tests on the products.
