In order to continue operation and expand the use of Mobile Satellite Services (MSS), DALO intends to purchase terminals and subscriptions to support personal communication for the Danish Defence. The framework. agreement also contains accessories, spare parts, services as help desk, repair function and training. The communication is call based as well as data traffic. It is forseen that the data based communication will increase going forward as the satellite operators plan to expand the communication and data capacity substantially within the period of the framework agreement. The subscriptions must support different use patterns. The terminals will mainly be used as back-up or for emergency services. Therefore the volumen of the traffic (voice and/or data) is low. The service shall as well support intense traffic in remote areas with weak infrastructure, including the arctic area.
