Beskrivelse
The DTU intend to order a scanning electron microscope (SEM) primary to be used by students attending courses at the Department of Civil and Mechanical Engineering. The desired microscope is Hitachi FlexSEM 1000 II. The performance of this microscope falls in the range between comparatively cheap tabletop SEMs and more expensive multi-purpose SEMs. The desired features are: i) Dedicated high-vacuum mode and low-vacuum mode with selectable pressures between 6 Pa and 100 Pa, suitable also for non-conducting specimens without coating; ii) Specimen size up to 80 mm; 3iii) 5-axes specimen stage; iv) Optical imaging of the entire specimen for easy navigation v) Several detectors for imaging: Everhardt-Thornley (ET) secondary electron (SE) detector, 5-segment backscattered electron (BSE) detector, and a separate low-vacuum SE detector; vi) Accelerating voltage from 300 V to 20 kV; up to 300.000x magnification, with guaranteed resolution: 4.0 nm at 20 kV using the ET SE detector; vii) An energy dispersive spectroscopy (EDS) detector and dedicated AZtec software from Oxford Instruments for chemical analysis; viii) The microscope does not need water cooling, can be plugged into a standard wall outlet (single phase AC 240 V±10%) and can be placed in any classroom. The footprint is 450 mm (depth) x 795 mm (width); ix) The microscope is easy to use and robust as needed for new students DTU consider that no other SEM manufacturers can offer an instrument with the desired set of specifications, and therefore DTU intend to place a direct order for a Hitachi FlexSEM 1000 II to be delivered by Spectral AB.
